Exports to the EU


The EU is Egypt's main trade partner with more than 32% if total trade flows. The enlarged EU represents some 40% of Egypt’s total trade with the world.

2004, which is the first year of implementation of the AA, witnessed a record score in EU-Egypt bilateral trade, reaching EUR 11.1 bn in total (compared to an average of EUR 10 bn since 2000), out of which EUR 4 bn corresponds to Egyptian exports to the EU (19.6% increase) and EUR 7.1 bn corresponds to EU exports to Egypt (21.1% increase).

Main Egyptian exports to the EU are energy and minerals (45%) and textiles (16%), followed by manufactured goods, base metals, agricultural foodstuffs and others.

Main EU export countries for Egyptian products to the EU are Italy (31.7%), UK (18%) and Germany (12%).
