DELEGATION FROM THE EUROPEAN
PARLIAMENT RESPONSIBLE FOR RELATIONS WITH MASHREQ AND
GULF COUNTRIES VISITS EGYPT (19 TO 25 NOVEMBER 2006)
A group of Members from the European Parliament – part
of the European Parliament's Delegation for relations
with Mashreq and Gulf countries - will visit Egypt from
19 to 25 November as guests of the Egyptian People's
Assembly. The group is led by Mrs Béatrice PATRIE and
comprises six members.
The Members of the European Parliament will meet with
the Speakers of the People’s Assembly and Shura Council,
with the parliamentary committees dealing with foreign
affairs and with economic issues, as well as with
several government ministers, including H.E. Mr. Ahmed
Abu El Gheit, Minister for Foreign Affairs; H.E. Mr.
Moufid Shehab, Minister of State for Legal and
Parliamentary Councils; and H.E. Dr. Ali Al Moselhi,
Minister of Social Solidarity.
The European Parliament Delegation will also be received
by the Vice President of the National Council for Human
Rights, by the head of the Judges Club, and will meet
representative of opposition political parties and of
civil society.
The Delegation will also travel to Aswan to meet H.E.
General Samir Youssef, Governor of Aswan. They will also
visit projects financed by the European Union in order
to gain an overall appreciation of the situation in the
area.
