Egyptian Ministers of Electricity
and Petroleum to attend
Energy Conference in Brussels (20/21 November 2006)
The European Commission will host a conference entitled
“Towards an EU external energy policy to ensure a high
level of supply security” in Brussels on the 20th and
21st November 2006.
The conference will be attended by Egyptian Minister of
Electricity and Energy, H.E. Hassan Younes and Minister
of Petroleum, H.E Sameh Fahmy. Speakers will include
José Manuel Barroso, President of the European
Commission, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Commissioner for
External Relations and Javier Solana, European High
Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy.
The conference’s objective is to bring together the key
players in the field of energy to discuss the ways in
which Europe can most effectively address the issue of
energy security. The conference will focus on the
external aspects of European energy-related policies and
will concentrate largely on issues of supply security
for oil and natural gas.
Other panellists and participants at the conference will
include various Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy,
industry representatives, international organisations,
academics and members of civil society.
