Caravan of the Euro-Arab Cinema
Second year
4-10 April 2007 – Ibdaa Creativity Center

Continuing on with its journey The Caravan celebrates the start of “Days of the Euro-Arab Cinema” film festival which is funded by the European Union within the framework of Euromed Audiovisual II a program which has been created in order to give an exchange, experience and know-how platform to foster a large screening of audiovisual works on both shores of the Mediterranean and to back up the development of Mediterranean audiovisual projects.

Organized by SEMAT Production & distribution Days of the Euro-Arab Cinema is the Caravan next event taking place 2007 in Cairo Egypt, in the period between 4 and 10 April.
The Event carries several activities:

  • Main Program: for feature length fiction; screening recent international film festivals award wining European and Arab productions and Co-productions taking place at The Creativity Center at the Cairo Opera house, including: the Oscar winning "Volver", the Spanish film "Posdata", the Italian film "Le Tigre et le Neige", the German film "Tough Enough" Tunisian film "Making off" by Nouri Bouzid awarded the golden Tanit from the Cartage international film festival 2007, and also "Heaven's Doors" which participated in Berlin International film festival 2007.
     

  • Documentary Program: for feature length documentaries screening recent international film festivals award wining Feature length documentaries which will include the world premier screening of the film “Look them in their eyes” by Azza al-Hassan.
     

  • Syrian Vision: the caravan hosts a special program dedicated to Syrian Cinema which screens 5 land mark Syrian films attended by directors Abdellatif Abdel Hamid and Osama Mohammad.
     

  • Century of Egyptian Cinema: A special day to celebrate the a 100 years of Egyptian Cinema in collaboration with the Egyptian Documentary Filmmakers Association and Geothe Institute in Cairo, screening two young Egyptian filmmakers' films and the screening of the land mark German silent film:
    "What is Happening at Billy's Circus"

"Europe & the Arab World, Partners or rivals? Co-production Contradictions" attended by European and Arab directors, critics, press members and cinema professionals will take place at the French Cultural Center in Cairo moderated by Dr. Dina Galal.
