MEDA Films Development announces
2007 projects
MEDA Films Development (MFD) will be holding the first
of its three 2007 training sessions in Marrakech,
Morocco from 23-30 April. Each of the eight-day
workshops offers scriptwriter and producer teams a
chance to learn new ways of coming up with ideas,
expanding on them and collaborating to realise them as
feature films.
For the three 2007 sessions, MFD has selected ten

MEDA countries except Syria. The ten projects chosen

MEDA Films Development is an EU-funded project that
forms part of the Euromed Audiovisual II programme. Its
aim is to enhance the development of ten Mediterranean
feature films per year, by strengthening the creative
partnership between producers and scriptwriters. It
selects 20 participants a year, and provides them with
three yearly workshops led by international
professionals, in order to enhance the development
process of their projects and ensure their viability,
quality and success. In addition, MFD aims at filling a
gap in the Mediterranean caused by a shortage of film
development bodies by establishing a dedicated
development structure in Morocco.
The Euromed Audiovisual II Programme aims at stimulating
dialogue and exchange between peoples from both shores
of the Mediterranean through the medium of cinema. It
promotes cooperation among audiovisual operators,
stimulates the transfer of technology and expertise
through professional training, fosters the broadcasting
of cinematographic works from the Mediterranean partners
and the European Union, promotes the enhancement of the
Euro-Mediterranean region’s audiovisual heritage and
facilitates investment, job and wealth creation in the
audiovisual sector.
