EU extends EUBAM Rafah

The Council of the EU has adopted in writing the extension of the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM) for the Rafah border crossing point by one year to 24 May 2008, renewable for another six months. It also approved €7 million in funding to cover costs over the additional 12 months. The extension of the mission was requested by both Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which first signed a movement and access agreement on 25 November 2005.
