4th FEMIP Ministerial Meeting takes place in Alexandria
on 7 June 2004
The 4th Ministerial Meeting of EIB’s Facility for
Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership (FEMIP) will
take place in Alexandria on 7 June 2004.
Its purpose is to assess Reinforced FEMIP’s results during
the Facility’s first half year of activity after its
reinforcement in December 2003 and look to future prospects.
The discussion will be based on recommendations concerning
the two themes of privatisation and private companies’
access to the various sources of finance, prepared and put
forward by the FEMIP Experts Committee Meeting held in
Marseille in February 2004.
Hosted by the Prime Minister of Egypt Dr Atef Ebeid, the
Meeting will be held at Ministerial level under the joint
chairmanship of the Egyptian Minister of Finance Dr Medhat
Hassanein, and EIB Vice-President with special
responsibility for FEMIP, Mr Philippe de Fontaine Vive. The
Egyptian Delegation will be presided by the Minister of
State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs Fayza Aboulnaga,
Being the first FEMIP Ministerial Meeting after the EU
enlargement, it will be attended by the 25 EU Member States,
including the new EU Mediterranean Member States Cyprus and
Malta, as well as the 10 MPCs. It will be attended also by
representatives of the European Commission, the World Bank
group (WB and IFC) IMF and African Development Bank (AfDB).
