EU supports Palestinian public
service providers with a further €21m
The Temporary International Mechanism (TIM) is to
disburse a further €21 million in financial support to
Palestinian civilian public service providers and
pensioners this week. The payment will be made from a
German and an EU contribution to the TIM. More than
77,000 beneficiaries will receive NIS 1,500 directly
into their bank accounts, in coordination with the
Palestinian Ministry of Finance.
Some 37,000 teachers and other employees in the public
education sector, as well as 12,000 public health care
providers are among the beneficiaries of TIM allowances.
Since July 2006, the TIM has disbursed €190 million in
social allowances to civilian public service providers
and pensioners.
The TIM allowances aim to support the Palestinian
population in the context of the current socio-economic
crisis. This payment is made with contributions from
Germany and the European Commission. In total, more than
one million Palestinians benefit from the social
allowances paid by the Temporary International
Mechanism. |
