SEMAT has the pleasure to announce the launch of the
Caravan Nights
Animation Time
Alexandria (August 25th – 29th, 2007)
CARAVAN is a series of
Euro-Arab film festivals to be held in a number of Arab
and European cities, moving from city to city throughout
the year, promoting cultural exchange and creating an
opportunity for dialogue.
This year Caravan Nights brings us important
Feature length & short animation productions a look at
animation from 2001, which will be screened in
Alexandria at the Ibdaa (Creativity Center), the
French Center for Culture & Cooperation, Bibliotheca
Alexandria, some of which are:

"Azur et Asmar" (Spain –
Italy – Belguim - France, 2006), Opening Film,
selected in Cannes 2006, Directors Fortnight
-
"Les Naufrages de Carthage/
The Carthage Castaways" (Tunisia / France, 2006)
the first animation feature produced & made in
Tunisia. The film is extracted from the animation
series Viva Carthago, composed of 13 episodes, 26
minutes each one

"The Living Forest"
(Spain, 2001) the first 3D animated film ever made
in Europe nominated the Oscar for best animated
film, 2003
-
"Kathedral / The Cathedral"
(Poland 2002) nominated for best short animated film
in Oscar, 2003
And many others selected films from
the 6th British animation award winners & the Egyptian
animation "Silver Fish" directed by Afaf Tobalah,
the first children book made into an animated film
As part of the CARAVAN a panel
under the title
"Challenges facing the animation production in the
Arab World"
Will be held at the Ibdaa Creativity Center on
Sunday the 26th of August at 6p.m
