EU FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR MEDIA PROJECTS IN EGYPT

The European Commission has published a Service Procurement Notice relating to the production, broadcasting and distribution of new and/or existing television programmes and radio programmes, the production, printing and distribution of printed media products, and the production and distribution of Internet-based media products for audiences in Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Moldova, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, the Russian Federation, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine (i.e. the beneficiaries of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument – ENPI).
The total indicative budget for the contract(s) is €11,500,000. Part of the budget (€1,500,000) will be used to finance media projects aimed at promoting gender equality and enhancing the role of women in the beneficiary countries. Financial offers below €50,000 may not be considered. The maximum budget for any single contract is €2,500,000.
Project proposals should focus on communicating with, and informing audiences (readers/listeners/viewers) about the EU, its relations with and the impact of EU cooperation on, the ENPI beneficiary countries. Projects may target audiences in a single or several countries, among the ENPI beneficiaries.
Proposed projects may include any duration, frequency and type of format, for TV/radio programmes or print/electronic press, but should be creative, appealing and preferably have an interactive and/or participatory dimension. All projects must include broadcast (TV/radio) or publishing (print/electronic) guarantees, by recognised mainstream media organisations, including commitments to ensure a prominent position of the end product in the broadcasting schedule or print/electronic publication.
Information Day meeting was organized by AIDCO in Bruxelles last 29 November 2007 to provide potential tenderers with background information and opportunities for questions and answers. A meeting will be organised next 31 January 2008 at 12:00h at the EC Delegation in Cairo.
